I’ve been wanting a cruiser style bike for neighborhood rides but wondered if it would be comfortable enough. Sounds like it is!

And if I saw that sign, I would turn around. I think I would’ve quit at the first flat tire and ate the picnic with the kids lol (FYI this feels like every time I’ve tried a fun thing with my kids. Usually ended with someone puking)

That lonely feeling in the garden--I feel you.

The cruiser is so fun. Mine is really comfortable and I think I upgraded my seat which was worth every penny. Thanks for seeing me in the garden. I see you too!

Your children are amazingly calm, easy going, and complain very little!

It was a good day for all of us. They are bigger now and also used to my escapades.

Such an explorer, keeps us on our toes, alert, alive, I would go forward, beyond limits. Break rules not law.

Love your language here

Beyond limits… breaking rules not laws

I feel like you have a few stories of rule breaking up your sleeve. 😊

Good question. Because they scream summer fun and they are totally impractical and ridiculous and sometimes you just need to embrace that.

To answer your question, I would take my cue from the sign. The "trail ends here" reads as a sort of message from the universe that you may have tested it, yourself, and your kids enough for the day. I'm trying to imagine what you ended up doing, though, and I'm not convinced you would not try to find a way around that fence.

I love your bike, though. That basket!!! And a holder for your tea mug! The thing that seems certain: you all will remember this bike ride for a long time and wasn't that at least one of the outcomes you desired? When the kids move on, this is something you will all be able to laugh about and relive together.

My response may be colored by the memory of the time my companion at the time and I got bikes, went to the Berkshires for a long weekend, and took our initial ride: 55 miles, up and down hills. I had never used a bike with gears before. I was terrified much of the time. I could not move my legs the next day.

55 mikes. Oh my! I also find gears terrifying. And so many hills.

My tea cup holder was a gift from my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. I felt so seen in that gift. I use it all the time too. And I love your question and how you got on the crux of the story- creating a memory we will have for a long time.

My favorite part of the Fish Lake trail is always the way back since it's slightly downhill. I've only ventured past that sign once on a bike. I'm looking forward to reading part 2!

I am now now curious about what happened when you ventured past that sign and what was going through your mind.

If I remember correctly, it was with my husband (possibly before we were married) and I was on a road bike and was concerned about the tires. I believe I was feeling annoyed, but trusted that Nigel knew what he was doing since he frequently bike commutes on the trail.

So then does Nigel go around the fence and take the trail or does he normally use the road?

He uses the road when he bikes to campus. We took the trail that day because I don't like biking with cars if it can be avoided.

Cliffhangers are the reason started waiting to watch a TV series until I can at least catch a few episodes (if not an entire season). 😂

Oh no, I’m so sorry. I love a good cliff hanger but I hear you. So glad you are here.

Okay now I feel bad, although I’m biting my tongue and not going to say sorry (working on not apologizing for everything, and it would be hypocritical since I was also going to say you have nothing to apologize for). Cliffhangers do drive me crazy sometimes, but that isn’t always a bad thing...helps me deal with impatience. I was being sarcastic. After all, the title itself says “Part 1”.
