“I promise this forest will not entangle you forever.” I LOVE this line. This is how empty nest and family medical issues felt last year in comparison to now. I’m going to post it on my writing office vision board as a reminder moving forward. Thanks for sharing!
Ooh—Rilke is another poetry angel for sure!! Book of Hours is spiritual sustenance to me. And I feel so grateful to Mary for the ways she has so generously shared poetry! Also, glad to be connected with you Andrea! 💗
Thank you for sharing Claire’s poems and for the lovely image of the fairy house with the blue door. Someday build one for the fairies and wood sprites flitting through my woods with the birds and the butterflies. 💙
I found many houses like that on a hike long ago and I was so enchanted by them. Claire’s second poem reminded me of that walk. Thanks for being here Sherri and for being the best cheerleader. I’m cheering you on in your fairy house journey.
Sherri, I love the blue door fairy house too. Building fairy houses was one of my favorite activities as a kid. 💙 This is inspiration to build another one soon!
Somebody sent me the last 9 lines of "In Blackwater Woods" after my son died and Mary Oliver has been a poetry guardian angel since. I love her deep connection to the natural world and how she gets grief.
Sara, I’m so, so sorry for the loss of your son. I too love Mary Oliver - she is my hands down favorite- speaks to my soul poetry, and that poem in particular has a special place.
My memoir is about motherhood particularly fostering our foster son who was with us for almost two years and all the learning and unlearning I did. I’m currently revising draft two. Thank you for asking about it. 🥰
Mary Oliver and John O’Donohue are on my shortlist of poetry guardian angels, too! It’s so lovely to see Claire’s work featured here. I had been meaning to order her book, and this was such a well-timed nudge - I just ordered it!
Thank you for sharing Claire’s poems! I have ordered the book and look forward to sitting with this beautiful poetry that explores pain, joy and wonder. This space captures my heart as I often search for sparks of hope in my work that can be replete with suffering. The phrase that caught my attention was how the fairies “cherish your choice in risking laughter.” Choosing hope and joy is vulnerable and risky!

I think we sometimes don’t recognize the wilderness until we’re out of it.
I love imagining those words on your vision board Kristy. 😍 Glad the words resonated with you. ♥️
I love when poetry gets the love and attention it deserves. Claire’s poems are beautiful. My poetry guardian angels are Donne and Rilke.
What are your favorites by each of your favorites?
How dare you ask me such a hard question? 🙂 My favorite from Donne is “Good Friday, 1613. Riding Westward.” I think it’s “Love Song” from Rilke.

♥️♥️♥️
I've requested my library to order it.
You rock Sandra!
Thank you so much for making that request Sandra! It makes me really happy to imagine the book finding its home in your community’s local library!
If one poet can't do that for another, then what? Plus, I'm looking forward to reading your work and they'll let me know when it's available.
TY for sharing Claire's poems and joining her in the excitement of her book launch. Ordered and followed : )
So generous and wonderful! I think you will love the book Karen. There are so many beautiful poems of noticing and wonder. Thanks for being here!
Thank you so much for ordering the book Karen! Glad to be connected through the wonderful Pocketful of Prose community. 😊
