"It’s easy to become overwhelmed with the mess that’s been made, and sometimes we fall into despair." Such true words for the season we are all living through, one that feels never-ending. I so appreciate your antidote to the despair, and I think I will never look at garlic in quite the same way again.

Sunflowers bring such joy, garlic such warmth. Thanks for the companion planting idea!

Garlic is one of my favorite things to grow. I love planting something when everything else is dying back + two harvests (scapes and the garlic it self). Your sunflowers are gorgeous.

This year the deer have breached my garden fence and eaten part many of the sunflower leaves and a few tops…they are beginning to recover and where the tops were chomped off sacrificing the first blooms, now there are many side branches with buds…if my husband’s attempts at reinforcing the fence are successful, we will have abundant sunflowers…just a bit later than expected. I wonder if growing garlic alongside sunflowers would deter the deer?? Sadly We don’t grow grow garlic because most of my family’s delicate digestive system can’t tolerate it.

"We live here"! That is such a beautiful thing to remember, and may we all try to pick up the broom and clean out whatever mess we can, whether we made it or not 🧡
