We have a number of rescues and we believe in the 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months rule. In 3 days, the anxiety starts to wane, in 3 weeks signs of trust are evident, and in 3 months, they have settled into their home, trusting, loving, and being loved as dogs do.

Thank you for your story. I love the gentle way you told it and the thread of understanding and forgiveness for your puppy, yourself and your family. Most of all I love that I'm not the only one with a cracked heart that I still hope will one day let the light shine through.

Thanks for sharing Angie. All of our hearts are cracked and it does take time for the light to find its way in. Holding you in the light.

what a cutie. too often we focus on things flowing out from rather than into the cracks in our hearts. we should all be more ready to be heartbroken.

He’s insanely cute. A little love bug. I love this thought and completely agree. I think you will like the title of my book. Thanks for reading!

"What if we didn't wait to love someone who was wanting to be loved?"

So happy for you, for Cam, for love! And the smile on his face in the last photo just melted my heart completely. Thanks for shining a bright light for us, Mary.

I love your pockets so much, and this one is no exception. The poem at the beginning is perfect and will be copied into my journal. And I continue to really enjoy listening to your pockets…my husband walked in yesterday as I was stretching and listening and he thought I was talking with a friend. ❤️ indeed that’s how I feel each time I listen to you. ❤️

Mary. MARY. I died dead. Baby Cam is SO CUTE! And look at those mischievous eyes!!!

Here is what I know as someone who has loved and lost dogs: Cato was loved so so so much and baby Cam will never take her place. But 14,000+ years of co-evolving with dogs means our hearts are made for loving them and Cam needs you.

Happy mischief-making, Cam!!! Boop!
