"Quiet as a feather." How lovely! I've been memorizing some of Mary Oliver's poems this year, to exercise both my brain and my joy. I missed the blue supermoon on those cloudy nights, too; but, I was delighted to watch it set Thursday morning as the sun rose during my walk on the Camas Prairie. I love it when my sons (grown now) humor me ;-) Seabass sharing his moon photo with you from a distance <3
Yes! That’s what I realized, worthy of seeking. I think there is a poem in that. On Saturday, Seabass and I were in different places, but we each shared pics of the moon we could finally see.
Thanks. I like it too. Yesterday I had an inside the window moment of my own, with a cup of tea and a book of poetry. I am hoping it will find me again today.
You captured another of those special moment in time memories with your son💜 Awesome that you ventured forth on a school night for an event hosted by nature...no crowded hallways, no filled to capacity parking lots, and no echoing voices shouting to be heard over the din of the crowd. Peace, water, clouds, family . ☁️🌖💦🦆❤️❤️❤️❤️
I did catch the moon - the clouds lifted here, and it was gorgeous. And like the physicist in the paper said, it kinda looked like a regular full moon. I love the self-compassion of “you’ll catch it next time,” and I’m going to think of your moon story when I find something not living up to the expectations I set for it, which is basically a daily occurrence because life.
Wish I would’ve read this before I posted my newsletter on loneliness because that Mary poem is a perfect accompaniment!
It was a really good poem, so thank you. Mary Oliver writes how she stood on the shoulders of another poem to write about her dog Percy. I like how you did that with Erika’s poem.
I am not on Tik Tok, but I was also so excited and then disappointed by the clouds here too. Grateful to have caught view of a smaller version a couple days later myself. Enough indeed.

That walk sounds lovely.
Love that you made time to look at the blue moon!! Even if the viewing didn't go as expected, worthy of the seeking.

I love this line: “I am jealous of all the nothing that is happening on the other side of the window”

I love your recap. I’m so lucky to have you as a reader. 🌻

Gorgeous post. I love The Journey, Wild Geese, The Summer’s Day, but lately I keep coming back to Don’t Hesitate.
"We shoot for the moon, and we miss." What a great line. So relatable. So human of us. And thanks for the shout out- I'm blushing.

I am not on Tik Tok either. I tend to just follow the moon. 🤗
You get me every time.
Awww. So glad. Thanks for reading.
