I found my thoughts returning to the idea that not all feedback needs to be followed…I need to remember this when my spouse gives me feedback about how to do a task…or when I give him undoubtedly helpful tips about how to do some project…🙄

Happy Birthday! I'm trying to remember the best feedback I ever got. Maybe when I won a writing residency (with a so-so story), my writing teacher/mentor said "this is the universe telling you to write and keep writing." I have done so. The worst feedback, imo, was at a reading of my play about Marilyn Monroe, when a guy stood up and said "you don't have the right to write about her." I said thank you, and moved on. I'm currently rooting for ALL the bakers ... haven't chosen a favorite yet.

Happy birthday! I love birthdays and celebrations and am glad for every year that gives me wisdom to better hear feedback without judgment and to trust my instincts in making decisions that are true with my values and identity. You are leaning into your truth in such brave ways. Cheers to 45!

I must acquire this candle. It is another parallel we have, the adoration of British Bakeoff. It is a huge comfort show for my entire family. I loved the whole premise of driving the train (or giving over the steering to someone else) It takes time to trust yourself as a writer (or anything else for that matter) and this blows open the idea that anyone with more experience is automatically right. Thanks for this piece.

On my gosh, the Noel candle is perfection. This post is a great reminder to trust our instincts. I think Prue would really like it.

🥰 Anna gave me the candle. I’m glad you approve and that you think I made Prue proud.

I sometimes think feedback is a way of someone saying ' I want you to write my way'.
