I chose Enough as my word of the year one year. It felt a little defeatist when I did, but it kept coming up. My friend Angie helped me see it as a word of abundance. Thank you for reminding me to listen to that episode of Wiser Than Me ... I've had a few people suggest it to me. And favorite ice cream varies, but right now it is peach season and I can't wait to make some peach ice cream and make ice cream sandwiches with gingersnaps. So good!

Wise friend. That is so true that it is a lens in which to see all that is there rather than all that isn't. It is a daily reminder for me. Those ice cream sandwiches sound amazing!

Yes, it's also a reminder that I don't have to push so hard all the time. And the ice cream sandwiches are amazing. They rival the strawberry brownie ice cream sandwiches I make in June.

Sara, you are giving me ideas. I love ice cream so much, but my favorite is when it is sandwiched between a cookie. My huckleberry ice cream came out so good. :)

I've never had huckleberries. What would you pair them with? I've heard they are similar to blueberries — we did that with lemon cookies last year.

That sounds perfect! I have a ton of blackberries in my garden and I’m going to try blackberry lemon tarts first the first time.

Yum!

Peach blackberry is also a delightful combination.

Just what I needed today. Thank you. My garden (winter garden, here on the south-coast of WEstern Australia), has been a disappointment to me. I have planted and replanted brassicas but to no avail - rabbits, rats and snails have taken the lot! time to let go of that and embrace instead that the potatoes and garlic are growing well. Enough.

It is hard to let go of the things we so very much wanted to cultivate. I’m so glad this found you when you needed it. Thanks for reading Jill!

I would like to know more about aid getting into Gaza. I was concerned that nothing could get in.

I love that you are earmarking money for this.

And your post was just as good the second time around. Go writing is meant to be read and reread.

Still learning the technology here, but I had a few things I wanted to highlight and to answer the questions! I also love doing YouTube yoga, Pilates, workouts, etc., I think in a way this ties into the fact that it is enough to do a yoga workout from your living room. I also like the word intention for the day thing and might start doing it sometimes. A couple of lines that stuck with me: “things are taking their time”, “it is enough as it is”. This definitely resonates today, as for the past year and a half ish I’ve been retraining myself to do less, to appreciate and invest in what I have and can do, to not define myself by capitalistic standards of productivity. I like to remember that even though I do less, I usually do better quality work on what I do engage in than most(but it is also ok to not be doing much and not doing it well as this is a part of life at times too). I have not planted anything or tended to the garden at all this year, but my mom has done this a lot, so I have been enjoying zucchinis(one of which was very large), a few small tomatoes, a few raspberries and mushrooms. Um as far as my heart, there is a lot growing there but something that I have been cultivating for a while is self-compassion. And also space-space to be mindful, to breathe, to allow what is, to not demand more.

Favorite ice cream: hard choice but lavender salted caramel ice cream(lavender ice cream with salted caramel swirl), only found so far at winegar’s in Ellensburg.

What a lovely response. It’s a work in progress for me too- to not define myself by capitalistic standards. I have never had lavender ice cream, but I love lavender.
